Abstract
338,921. Soc. Anon. des Accumulateurs Monoplaque. Jan. 29, 1929, [Convention date]. Electrodes; separators; supports for electrodes; cells.-A storage battery is provided with positive plates, the total area of which is greater than the area of the negative plates. This is effected by making the positive plates 1 longer than the negatives 2, the former reaching to the bottom of the cell, the latter being suspended clear of the bottom as shown in Fig. 1, both groups of plates being positioned at their lower ends in racks or grooves 4, 5 formed in the walls of the container. The negative plates may be suspended by bars 3 in the form of racks which fit into indentations in the plates and rest on the walls of the cell and on the positive plates. The plates are separated further by insulating bands 7, pins 9 and racks 8, combs 11 and U- shaped separators. The positive plates are kept in position by racks 6 on the bottom of the bath and by cross-pieces 12 soldered to the plates. To prevent active material from falling out of the positive plates they are covered by lead network.
