Junction boxes; plug couplings; bases, for couplings.-A floor box comprises a substantially rectangular base element 1 into which electric conduits 3 lead, and which is mounted in a floor 11 and surmounted by a variety of interchangeable fittings that form upward extensions of the walls of the base element and constitute a junction box, a plug coupling, or an attachment for flexible leads, conduit, &c. The box 1 may be adjustably mounted, and is provided with lugs 6, 7 for the attachment of the accessory fittings. Where the upper fitting is removed, the base element 1 is closed by a cover 16, Fig. 2, that lies flush with or is covered by the floor 11 and is fitted into a frame 13 having a bevelled edge to provide a close joint. For making connections to the box, a number of socket frames 18, Fig. 6, fit into the frame 13 and are provided with screwthreaded collars 22 or recesses tc receive socket fittings 19 or conduit couplings. The threaded recesses may be closed by flush screw plugs when not in use.
