Abstract

337,985. Bateman, F. W., and Bateman & Co., Ltd., F. Nov. 12, 1929. Polarizing-apparatus. - Strain in spectacle lenses is detected by examination of the lenses in polarized light. Light from a frosted electric globe is reflected from a polished black surface A being polarized thereby, and received in an analysing eyepiece K mounted on a support a. The lens to be examined is held between the eyepiece K and the plate A revealing white streaks in the parts strained. The plate A may be pivoted as shown to a wall bracket D so that it may be turned out of the way when not in use.
