Abstract

306,297. George, Ltd., W. & J., and Bough, F. P. March 10. 1928. Testing apparatus, auxiliary.-A holding device for lenses, prisms and similar objects comprises a bracket 5, mounted on a support 6, and provided at one end with an upstanding arm 7 to which is pivoted another arm 11 having at its outer end means 12 for engaging the upper surface of a lens or prism. This arm 11 is spring-controlled and ensures that the lens &c. is securely held between the recess 5‹ in the bracket 5 and the eccentrically mounted block 12. For the holding of smaller lens a sleeve 17 on the bracket 5 is provided with a recess 17<a> of smaller dimensions than that of the recess 5a, this sleeve 17 being adapted to slide along the bracket to take the lower edge of the lens &c. when desired. For holding lenses the notches 5a, 17<a>, are made V- shaped.
