Delivery of articles stored in piles; coin action, weight.-Articles stored in a magazine 1, Fig. 2, are delivered one at a time by a pair of opposed pivoted flanged jaws 2 which are swung clear of the open bottom of the magazine and returned thereunder by a weight or spring- driven device normally retaied by a pawl. The spindles carrying the jaws have cranked ends 7 connected by a sliding block 8 for movement in unison, when one crank 7 is rocked by a link 18 connected to a crank 17 on a shaft 9. The shaft 9 is driven through a one-way device. 12 by a surrounding sleeve 11, on which is wound a cord or the like 13 passing over a pulley 14 and attached to a weight. The shaft 9 is normally retained by a double-pawl 19, 20, Fig. 4, cooperating with a projection 21 on the shaft. The pawl has an arm 22 which is tripped by a coin falling down a shoot 23 to allow one complete revolution of the shaft 9. The remainder of the pile of articles 24, Fig. 3, is retained, when the jaws are open, by a rubber faced plate 25, which presses the next article against the back of the shoot 1. The plate 25, pressed forward by a spring, is pivoted on the spindle 5 of the front jaw and is held away from the articles, when the jaws are closed, by an adjustable stop 27 carried by the front jaw. The articles are also lightly pressed against the back of the shoot by an upper spring-controlled plate 29. Instead of two jaws, a single jaw, with a flange 3 extending almost completely across the bottom of the shoot 1, may be used.
