343,708. Automatic - feed weighers. SIMON, W. G. and SIMON, F. R., Phoenix Works, Vernon Road, Basford, Nottingham. Jan. 29, 1930, No. 3064. [Class 143.] In an automatic-feed weigher of the kind in which the material in the weighing-receptacle 24 is discharged through a gate 29 at the base of the receptacle, the feed to the receptacle is controlled by a valve comprising a curved plate 17 carried by pivoted plates 13 and movable in grooves in the feed shoot 10, the valve being normally retained in open position by the abutment of an arm 27, of a weighted lever 26, with a catch 18 pivoted to the valve. The lever 26 is pivoted to the receptacle and, as the latter sinks at the completion of a weighment, releases the catch 18 to allow the valve to close under the weight of a pivoted bar 22. The latch of the discharge gate is tripped mechanically, electrically or manually, and the gate in opening rotates the lever 26 clockwise by means of a connecting link 28. After discharge, the receptacle rises and the discharge gate closes causing the arm 27 to engage the catch 18 and open the feed valve, which has been relieved of the weight of the bar 22 by a member 25 upstanding from the receptacle. The machine may be provided with a dribble-feed device.
