[Class 143] In an automatic weighing-machine the feed is directed to the weigh bucket by a conveyer belt or band and is cut off by a member which is brought substantially tangentially to the belt or band as it passes around its pulley at the delivery end, and serves in conjunction with side members to provide a trapping enclosure for any material which may be passing over the conveyer at its delivery end at the moment of cut off. In the form shown, material from the hopper a is carried by an endless conveyer b to a shoot h which directs the material into the weigh bucket 2. When the bucket descends a falling arm o supported on a part o<1> of the weigh bucket is intercepted and supported by a trip trigger 11, 12. A feed gate d which is connected to the falling arm o through a supporting pin n<1>, lever k, hooked link s, pin r, weighted lever q and strut p, descends with the falling lever o until arrested in the dribble feed position by a ledge e. When the required weight has entered the weigh bucket, the part o<1> displaces the trip trigger 11, 12 and allows the falling arm to drop and withdraw its support from the strut p. The weighted lever q pulls down the link s and (1) causes further pivotal movement of the lever k to act on a cam shaped member f and close a cut-off plate f tangentially against the conveyer b to cut off the feed, (2) causes a lever u to be turned by a pin s<1> thus disconnecting the drive and stopping the conveyer b. A cam plate 28 engaging a pin 29 on a lever t connected to the link s, temporarily retains the lever and link to avoid re-starting of the feed. The rise of the weigh bucket after discharging lifts the falling arm o and weighted lever q. The bucket door in closing, acting in conjunction with a known locking mechanism co-operating with the cam plate 28, allows the lever t to turn and re-open the feed gate d and cut-off plate f. The pin s<1> allows the lever u to rise and start the conveyer.
