Abstract

337,776. Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges. March 2, 1929, [Convention date]. Relay devices.-In apparatus in which a member follows the movement of the pointer of a measuring instrument periodically, an optical indicating device is moved by the member to give a visible indication of the position of the instrument pointer. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the measuring instrument pointer 41 moves over a fixed support 42 and is periodically pressed into engagement therewith by a bracket 43. The arms 44, 45 which move to engage the hand are mounted on spindles 46, 47 and each is operated by mechanism, as shown for the spindle 46, comprising a pinion 48, toothed quadrant 49, spring- controlled lever 50 and operating cam 53. On the spindle 47 is freely mounted a sleeve 55 carrying the adjustable member 57 and gear wheel 56. The wheel 56 meshes with a pinion 58 which, by means of a belt drive 59, actuates the indicating band 61 The band, which passes behind a window, is illuminated from the rear and is balanced by a counterweight 62. The member 57 has pivoted thereto, at 64, a member 63 having a pin 65 engaging a triangular recess in an arm 66, guided in a sleeve 77 and provided with a brake block 67 normally bearing on a fixed segment 68. When one of the arms 44, 45 strikes the member 63, the coupling pin 65 will move the arm 66 to disengage the brake block 67. To avoid displacement of the pointer 41 on the impact of the arms 44, 45 the ends of the arms are provided with angle irons 69', 70, carrying spring blades 71, 72 and locking pawls 73, 74 respectively. When a spring blade strikes the pointer the angle iron is turned to cause the locking pawl to engage teeth 75 on the support 42.
