336,908. Cook, W. H. Feb. 1, 1930. Locking nuts. - For locking nuts, a washer is provided, adapted to fit into a V-shaped annular recess in the nut and has projections which engage with the thread of the bolt, on contacting with the work surface. The axis of the V-shaped recess c, Fig. 2, is tilted, the outer wall being parallel to the axis of the nut a, and there is an inward flange at c<3>. The washer e, Fig. 3, has an annular body part shaped to fit the recess c or is fitted with prongs e<1>, inwardly directed and there are recesses e<3> in the part e, adjacent such prongs. On screwing the nut up against the work, the prongs are forced inta the thread of the bolt, and the ring portion is jammed into the nut. Specifications 122,381 and 272,807 are referred to.
