335,707. Welsh Coast Ice Co., Ltd., and Smith, E. Aug. 31, 1929. Cutting and slicing vegetables &c.-A slicing-machine is composed of a bedplate 1, mounted on rubber blocks 2, to which is pivoted a frame 9 which supports a series of parallel knives 6 mounted, on bolts 7, 8 and spaced by distance pieces 11; the bolt 7 is mounted in bearings 10 on the bedplate and forms the pivot. A platform 3, for supporting the material to be sliced, formed integral with the bedplate, has a vertical wall 4 which prevents the material from moving away when being cut and has also vertical grooves into which the knives enter. The frame 9 is extended and is fitted with a handle 12. A guard-plate 14, slidably mounted on rods 15, is connected to the bedplate by a link 17; in the open position the guard-plate is drawn down in front of the knives but is moved away during a cutting operation. A side stop 13 is fitted to enable material to be positioned on the platform. The spacing of the knives can be varied by using distance pieces of different thickness and the platform 3, and wall 4 can be made removable so that a platform and wall with the correct slot spacing can be used.
