Abstract
333,427. Lodge-Cottrell, Ltd., (Metallges. Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 23, 1929. Gases, treating with electric discharges.-The electrical cleaning of gases from revolving furnaces is stabilized by maintaining the gas entering the cleaner at a temperature above 150‹ C. sufficiently high to increase the conductivity of the dust, whilst reducing the velocity of the gas through the electrical field to about one half of that required when cleaning the gas at lower temperatures. The electrical field may be subdivided, into stages operated at increasing potentials. A suitable temperature for cement kiln gases lies between 200‹-250‹ C, but the temperature used varies with the composition of the gas and the nature of the process.
