Abstract

333,184. Wallgren, G. A. F. May 3, 1929. Stop-gear.-In a device for stopping a motor when the lubricant for a toothed gearing with splash lubrication falls below a certain level, a receptacle 12 above the level of the lubricant is filled therewith by splashing and has an outlet 13 in its base so that a float 14 in the receptacle co-operates with a contact means for making or breaking an electric circuit as the float sinks when the oil level is too low. Oil is splashed by the teeth into a trough 10 communicating with the receptacle 12, and the float 14 has recesses 15, 16 into which project insulated pins 17, 18. Coil springs 21, 22 fixed on the pins contact with horizontal rods 23 on the float. When the float sinks and contact between the coils and rods 23 is broken, an electric motor 34 is stopped by switches 30, 31, 32 actuated by an electromagnetic relay 26 and armature 28. Alternatively, a float 47 formed as in Fig. 5 on sinking completes a circuit.
