Barrel and cylindrical hinges.-The lid 4 of a metal box is hinged to the body 5 by one or more portions 1 of the lid flange which are bent around the hinge pin 2 while one or more portions 3 of the flange are only partly bent around the pin so as to engage the adjacent wall of the box and thus tend to hold the lid in the closed position. The pin 2 may be of a hard or springy nature to improve the spring action of the lid and the wall of the box below the hinge may be stiffened by a bead.
