Abstract

332,880. Felten & Guilleaume Carlswerk Akt.-Ges. March 16, 1929, [Convention date]. Armouring cables; insulating coverings for cables.-In a high-tension submarine cable insulated with oil-impregnated paper, the protecting sheathing is formed of rubber which has been rendered impermeable to water, a layer of oilimpermeable material being applied over the paper insulation. The sheathing may consist of rubber which has been freed of water-soluble and water-containing substances, and to which insoluble and non-hygroscopic filling materials are added. In a, modified construction, the waterimpermeable sheath is formed of a rubber which after it has been applied to the conductor has its surface impregnated with molten paraffin, in order to close the pores.
