Rotary furnaces.-In a rotary kiln comprising two or more independently rotatable drums through which the materials pass in series, all the drums with the exception of the lowermost, where combustion is effected, consist of a number of tubes arranged in parallel. The lowermost firing-drum may be mounted on a tilting frame so that its inclination can be adjusted. In a plant comprising three drums in series the speed of rotation of the firing-drum is preferably the highest, and of the intermediate drum the lowest.
