Abstract
343,513. Rotary kilns. JORGENSEN, M. VOGEL-, 33, Vestergade, Copenhagen. Nov. 18, 1929, No. 35233. Convention date, Oct. 26. [Class 51 (ii).] The material under treatment in a rotary kiln for burning cement lime ores &c. is caused to move outwards from the kiln through openings in the wall, and subsequently to pass back through the same openings and to be showered down through the heating gases. In the construction shown in Fig. 2 pockets 4 mounted on the outside of the kiln shell are in communication with the interior through slots 5 preferably inclined to the axis of the kiln. In the modified construction shown in Fig. 3 pockets 7, through which heating-gases are exhausted, alternate with the pockets 4 for receiving the material. Dampers are provided for shutting off the pockets 7 from the interior of the kiln, except when they are in such position that heating-gases will be drawn into them through material being showered from an adjacent higher pocket 4. The pockets are fitted in the calcining and preheating zones.
