Abstract

1,075,335. Discharging rotary furnaces. F. L. SMIDTH & CO. A.S. Aug. 9, 1965 [Aug. 27, 1964], No. 35172/64. Heading F4B. Iron ore pellets are hardened by charging them mixed with moist finely-divided ore into a rotary kiln 1, preheating the mixture in a zone 3, removing fines through a cylindrical screen 5, passing the pellets through a heat-hardening zone 6 and removing them at 12. Fines pass through the screen 5, through openings 8 into a hood 9 and then through shoot 10 for return to a grinding mill for re-use. The hood 9 prevents escape of the kiln gases.
