Abstract
332,504. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Dec. 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Medicines for internal use. - Finely divided bismuth hydroxide, which when suspended in oil, may be used medicinally, for instance in the treatment of syphilis, is obtained by precipitating an aqueous solution of a bismuth salt by means of an alkali, and drying the filtered precipitate by first washing with a solvent which is more volatile than and. soluble in water, then washing with a second volatile solvent, and finally evaporating the second solvent. As first solvent alcohol, methanol, or acetone may be used, and as second solvent ether, ethylchloride or chloroform.
