Abstract

331,920. Taylor, E. Z. April 12, 1929. Paper and like tubes.-In a machine, particularly of the kind described in Specification 331,919, for forming paper &c. tubes, the paper web A is passed through rollers 40, 41 one or both of which is provided with projecting parts 42 as shown for crushing the paper at points 44 in such a manner that the ends of the tube blanks, formed by severing the web at these points at a later stage, are tapered to a comparatively thin edge to avoid unevenness in the surfaces of the finished tubes. The said rollers are located between the feed roll and the tube-forming mandrel, and are driven in synchronism with the severing mechanism at a speed dependent upon the length of blank desired.
