Abstract

354,970. Rotary-blade machines. JOHNSON, B. A. E., 10, Skaldevõgen, Alsten, Sweden. July 16, 1930, No. 21588. [Class 31 (i).] In a machine for making the outers of match boxes &c. by winding a veneer blank 3 around a rotating mandrel 1, Figs. 1 and 7, by the aid of a smoothing roller 5 and covering the veneer with a pasted paper strip 6 which is fixed to the end of the veneer by a lift roller 7 acting in conjunction with a counter-roller 8, the strip is severed by a toothed knife 9 acting against the grooved counterroller 8 which is moved towards the knife as the severing takes place so that the strip then extends in a substantially straight direction from the mandrel, Fig. 5. The knife &c. are actuated from cams on a shaft 11 which is geared to the shaft of the mandrel 1.
