Abstract

357,680. Making boxes. AKTIEBOLAGET G. AREHNS MEKANISKA VERKSTAD, 20, Alstr÷mergatan, Stockholm. July 16, 1930, No. 21586. Convention date, July 29, 1929. [Class 18.] In a machine for making the outer casings of drawer- and-shell boxes comprising a rotating mandrel upon which the casing is wound by co-operation with a spring- controlled smoothing roller, the roller is removed from the mandrel as one or more corners thereof pass the roller so that the veneer strip, by its elasticity, can accommodate itself to the mandrel with the scored lines of the veneer correctly located opposite the corners of the mandrel. As shown, the smoothing roller 8 is journalled in a two-armed lever 10 rigidly mounted on a shaft 9 and pressed towards the mandrel 1 by a stiff spring 11. A cam 13 engages an arm 12 which is loose on the shaft 9 and has a lateral projection to engage the arm 10 and move the roller from the mandrel.
