Mine and like head sheaves.-A sheave assembly for crown blocks such as is used in oilwell equipment is so arranged that the parts may be assembled in adjusted position prior to being positioned on a derrick head. Each sheave assembly includes a pair of boxes 16, the lower faces 17 of which rest on the upper flanges of parallel I-beams 14 and are secured thereto by bolts 18. A shaft 24 passes through openings 21 in the boxes and is formed near each end with flat-bottomed recesses 25 which are engaged by straps 27. Bolts 29 connect the straps to the lower part of the boxes. Roller bearings 38 are placed between the sheave 37 and a central hardened portion 35 of the shaft.
