Abstract

258,176. Pitou, E., and Jones, D. Palmer-. March 30, 1926. Staging, suspended.-An improvement on the suspended scaffolding described in Specification 229,466 consists in constructing the scaffolding so that the winches are below the surface of the platform. Each winch frame is formed of two plates 1, 2 and is disposed as each end of a putlog, the inner plates being connected together by a bar 4 which forms a machine-putlog. Longitudinal connectors 9, 10 are pivoted to the outer winch-frame plates 1 so that the levels of the various stages may be independently adjusted and intermediate connectors 11 with hooked ends may be provided. The winches are below the platform level and the platform has openings 13 to allow of access to the winch mechanism. Guide pulleys 6 are provided for each winch. In a modification, each machine putlog is formed of two bars 14, 15 and the winches are disposed with their axes at right-angles to the putlogs. The longitudinal bearers 20 are connected by fishplates 23. Hooked ends 22 and 24 are provided on the bearer and putlog bars respectively to. present spreading and to assist attachment.
