Abstract

331,472. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Dec. 8, 1928, [Convention date]. Alkaline-earth molybdates.-In the production of magnesium, calcium, or other alkaline-earth molybdate by treating fully roasted molybdenite with solutions or suspensions of the corresponding hydroxides, the reaction is effected, preferably at the boiling point, in a solution having a barely perceptible alkaline reaction, this condition being realized by adding the hydroxide gradually. Excess of hydroxide in the product must be avoided, as it gives rise to formation of soluble molybdates.
