Waterproofing; proofing processes and compositions. - Leather is impregnated with rubber cement with or without fillers and vulcanized by treatment with an ultra accelerator and sulphur. Suitable ultra-accelerators are piperidine-pentamethylenedithio-carbamate, or zino-ethylxanthate. The impregnation may take place under vacuum and the vulcanization may be effected under ordinary conditions or with the use of heat and pressure. Where sulphur is present in the leather, as the result of the method of tanning employed, it may not be necessary to add any to the materials.
