Electrodes.-A machine for pasting a continuous length of metal strip and cutting the pasted strip into short lengths constituting electrodes for alkaline accumulators, comprises a paste-containing reservoir having a flat mouthpiece 3 from which the paste is forced into the gap between two rollers 4, 5 between which the metal strip 6 is fed. The upper roller 4 is kept dry and hot by a gas burner &c. 10, the lower roller 5 being kept moist and cool by means of a water bath 9 through which the strip 6 is also passed over a roller 8. The pasted strip passes through a second pair of heated rollers 11, 12 to complete the drying of the strip which is then cut into short lengths by periodically actuated shears 14, 15. The divided strips are carried by a conveyer 17 to a plate 18 from which they are' removed for stacking or further treatment such as folding and pressing.
