Abstract
328,706. Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., and Brightman, R. Feb. 13, 1929. Disazo dyes.-Regenerated cellulose materials are dyed in level shades by the application of disazo dyes obtained by coupling tetrazotized 1: 5- diaminonaphthalene with 1 mol. of a phenol, a naphthol, a carboxylic derivative of a phenol, a naphthol sulphonic acid, or an aminonaphtholsulphonic acid, and 1 mol. of another coupling component, excluding 2:5: 7-aminonaphtholsul. phonic acid or a derivative thereof either as first or as second component. The dyestuffs preferably contain at least one sulphonic group for each naphthalene nucleus in the coupling components. The following examples are specified :-(1) 1: 5- Diaminonaphthalene is tetrazotized and coupled (alkaline) with 1 mol. of 1: 8-aminonaphthol 2: 4-disulphonic acid and 1 mol. of #-naphthol; the product dyes viscose silk bright blue. (2) Viscose silk is dyed a rich red shade in a bath containing Glauber's salt, soap, and the dyestuff obtained by coupling tetrazotized 1 : 5-diaminonaphthalene with 1 mol. of salicyclic acid and 1 mol. of 2-methylaminonaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid. A table is also given showing the shades obtained on viscose silk with the dyestuffs from tetrazotized 1: 5-diaminonaphthalene and the following components, all aminonaphtholsulphonic acids being coupled alkaline :-1: 8-aminonaphthol-2: 4-disulphonic acid (2 mols.); 1: 5-naphtholsulphonic acid (2 mols.); salicylic acid and 2 : 8-aminonaphthol-6-sulphonic acid or 2-phenyl. amino-8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid or 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-2: 4(or 3 : 6)-disulphonic acid; o- or pcresotinic acid and 2: 8-aminonaphthol-6-sulphonic acid: 1: 4-naphtholsulphonic acid and 2 :8-aminoaphthol-6-sulphonic acid or 1: 8- aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid; resorcinol and 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-2 : 4-disulphonic acid. Specification 9287/00 is referred to.
