267,985. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. March 22, 1926, [Convention date]. Azo dyes.--Wool and silk mixtures are dyed in even tints from a single bath by employing sulphonated monoazo or disazo dyestuffs containing a phenyl-pyrazolone nucleus and containing one or more alkyloxy, aryloxy, or aralkyloxy groups, which may be present either in the diazocomponent or in the coupling component or in both. In examples, the following dyestuffs are used, the dyebath being made up with crystallized sodium sulphate and acidified with sulphuric acid :-o - aminoanisol # 1 - 4<1> - sulphophenyl-3- methyl-5-pyrazolone and o-aminodiphenylether #1-4<1>-sulphophenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. The following dyestuffs are also specified :-3-amino-1- methyl-4-phenolbenzylether#1-4<1>-sulphophenyl- 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone; o-anilinesulphonic acid # 1-4-methoxyphenyl -13 - methyl-5-pyrazolone and p-aminodiphenylether-o-sulphonic acid#1- phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. The dyestuff should not contain more acid groups than are necessary to render it soluble, and one of the components may contain a carboxylic ester group. Specifications 247,224 and 9968/10 are referred to. 3-Amino-1-methyl-4-phenolbenzylether is obtained by reduction of the nitro group of the product of interaction of 3-nitro-1-methyl-4- phenol with benzyl chloride in presence of an alkali.
