Abstract

Spring mountings for seats.-A vehicle seat, of the kind in which the seat back is rigid with the seat bottom, is supported at its front and rear edges and is mouned so that the front edge can yield upwardly against the action of the springs, &c., while the seat turns about a transverse line at or near its rear edge. Fig. 1 shows a seat C which can be tipped about its front edge. At each of its front corners a depending bolt F passes through a fixed guide J, a spring Q being arranged on the bolt between its lower end H and the guide J, so that the front edge of the seat can yield upwardly against the action of the springs Q. A comparatively weak spring S, rubber pad, &c. is arranged on each bolt between the guide J and the seat to avoid shock as the seat returns to its normal position. The rear part of the seat rests upon rubber &c. blocks T. The upper ends of the bolts F are formed with eyes forming bearings for a rod E carried between brackets D secured to seat bv bolts d so that the seat can be tipped bodily forward about the rod E. In order to permit endwise adjustment of the seat, a series of holes to receive the bolts d are provided. According to the Provisional Specification the rear edge of the seat may be secured to the vehicle frame by loose bolts.
