Abstract
326,623. White, A. E., (Hall Manufacturing Co.). Jan. 30, 1929. Rotating-tool apparatus; round holes, trueing. -A cylinder hone comprises grinding stone carriers 7 mounted in a rotating body 8 so that they can rock but not move circumferentially thereto. The carriers 7 can be moved radially outwards, against the action of springs 29, by cone ended pins 26 engaging cone recesses 28 and operated by a double cone member 21 which is moved axially by a screwed sleeve 19<a> rotated by a rod 19. The pins 26 are further apart than the recesses 28 so that the stones 5 can rock and thus automatically adjust themselves to the work. In a modification each carrier has inclined surfaces 32, Fig. 3, engaging inclined seats 36 of a support 35 adapted to be moved radially outward by shouldered pins 33. The double cone member is operated by an axially moved rod 19 and a spring 38. The drive shaft 16 is connected to the body 8 by a universal joint 15.
