Walls.-In furnace walls or floors embodying tubes A through which a fluid is circulated for cooling purposes, cast iron rings B are shrunk on the tubes such rings being provided with fins B' having enlarged ends B<3> for retaining heat resisting material which is blown on to the rings by a cement gun. The rings may be surrounded wholly by heat-resisting material or the heatresisting material may be applied to the furnace side of the rings only. A layer of heat-insulating material D and steel plates E enclose the tubes on the outside.
