Abstract

325,265. Molins, W. E. Nov. 15, 1928. Cigarette-making machines.-In a continuousrod machine, the tobacco showered into the trough 9 from a distributor drum 6 by a picker roller 7 is given a movement in the direction of the cigarette rod prior to engagement with the web of cigarette paper. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the guide plate 10 is provided with inclined vanes 11 slightly curved at their lower end. The guide plate 13 may be provided with similar vanes. In a modification, the drum 6 and picker roller 7 are inclined in order to throw the tobacco forwards; or the picker roller 7, Fig. 4, is inclined to the drum 6 and is concave, or is provided with picker pins which are longer at the extremities of the drum, in order to mate with the surface of the drum.
