Abstract

324,946. Clayton, G. S., and Marshall, J. S. C. Nov. 3, 1928. Bottling.-In a combined carbonating and bottle-filling machine, a horizontal carbonator 1 supported on frames 5 with rotary per forated paddles 10 is connected by substantially straight liquid and gas ports 16, 17 to filling nozzles. An operating handle 21 controls the position of a plug 20 with ports 23, 24 registering with the ports 16, 17, and swings a guard 31 into position. When the pressure in a bottle is equal to the pressure in the carbonator a clack valve 35 lifts and liquid flows through the port 16 to the bottle. The nozzles are secured to filling heads 12 arranged at the bottom of the carbonator and between the paddles. The bottles are supported by spring- urged racks 40 at an angle of 45 degrees.
