Lateral-splash guards.-A device for preventing mud splashing from the wheels of motor-cars and the like comprises a flexible guard g secured to a horizontal member f slidably supported by two upright members e, which are held by springs m, n resting on collars o on the members e and in casings k and fixed on each side of a depending plate c revolvably mounted internally of the hubcap d of the wheel and secured to it by a spring washer and lock nut. The springs m, n are enclosed by gaiters j, k by means of which the height of the guard may be adjusted. In modifications, the uprights e may be cranked outwardly and a guard may be provided to cover the joint at the hub-cap.
