Abstract

322,427. Nobel Industries, Ltd., (Du Pont de Nemours & Co., E. 1.). June 1, 1928. Nitroguanidine, p-nitraniline, obtaining in finely-divided form.-Nitroguanidine, p-nitraniline, and like bodies, which are in soluble at a low temperature and substantially soluble at a higher temperature which is below the point of rapid decomposition, are obtained in a finelydivided form by forming an aqueous solution at the higher temperature, which is substantially above 100‹ C., e.g. 140‹-160‹ C., under super. atmospheric pressure, the concentration of which is greater than the saturated aqueous solution at the lower temperature, and then discharging this solution, without converting it into a spray or the like, into a mixture of ice and water containing such an amount of ice that the hot solution is cooled approximately to 0‹ C. almost instantaneously. The process may be carried out in an autoclave, the solution being discharged by its own pressure, and the water may be introduced as high-pressure steam, the resulting solution being continuously discharged, and the process becoming continuous.
