321,717. Wade, H., (Syntheta Akt.-Ges.). Aug. 18, 1928. Filters having sheet filtering - material. - Filters for use in artificial silk apparatus situated between the pump that supplies the spinning solution and the spinning nozzle, comprise a filter candle, Fig. 1, having a hollow filter carrier 5 screw-threaded at 9 and with grooves at 10 on its outer surface communicating with holes 11 extending into the interior of the casing. A filter sheet is placed over the threads 9 and the silk passes from an inlet 4 through the filter to an outlet 12. The parts are threaded together at 6 &c. for ready detachment and a threaded plug 14, allows easy cleansing of the member 5. The filter carrier is surrounded by a jacketed casing 2 whereby the solution may be maintained at a temperature below its boiling point.
