Abstract

321,583. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., and Thompson, G. W. Dec. 10, 1928. Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for. - The nozzle. tube 2 of a soot blower is moved in and out of its casing 3 by the engagement of its threaded end 5 with a nut 6 rotated by a chain-wheel 10. The nut is prevented from axial movement by an annular collar 12, and the tube 2, from rotational movement, by engagement of keys 19 with keyways 20, until, in the position shown, the nut and tube rotate together ; this causes engagement of a cam 16, on an extension of the tube 2, with a trigger 17, which opens the steam valve 18.
