Abstract

320,832. Anciens Etablissements Barbier, Benard, et Turenne, Soc. Anon. Nov. 9, 1928, [Convention date]. Arc lamps.-An arc-lamp carbon 2 is held between rollers 10 by means of which it is continuously rotated and intermittently fed forward under the control of a cam device. The rollers 11 are carried on a toothed wheel 9 driven from the motor 3 and are connected to toothed wheels 12 gearing with a wheel 13 which normally rotates freely about the carbon 2. To hold the wheel 13 and thus cause the carbon to be fed forward a ratchet 14 is. provided with which engages a pawl 15 operated by means of a cam 21 on a shaft 6 through the levers 27, 28. The cam 21 is formed of tapered portions as shown so that by sliding it lengthwise on the shaft 6 the time during. which the carbon is fed forward can be regulated. This is effected by a fork 27a engaging with the cam 21 and carried on a rod 30 which is slid lengthways by means of a knob 34 and a helical cam 36. The other carbon 1 is fed forward steadily through the gearing shown,
