Seat adjustments. - An adjustable seat comprises a fixed framework 14, 15, 18 in which is mounted a longitudinal rod 20 on which the seat 11 pivots, and longitudinal rods 16, 17 which carry loose pulleys 21. Mounted in a standard 26 below the seat is a longitudinal rod 25 carrying a fixed pulley 24 from which extends chains or flexible means 22 which pass over the loose pulleys 16, 17 and engage the sides of the seat 11. A pinion 27 is fixed to the end of the shaft 25 and engages a pinion 28, Fig. 4, revolubly mounted on a shaft 37 which carries a spring- controlled arm 34 provided with teeth 30 for engagement with the teeth of a fixed pinion 32, A rod 36 passes through a bracket 35 fixed to the wheel 28 and is screwed into the arm 34. When the floor 10 tilts, the rod 36 is pushed back by hand to disengage the arm 29 from the pinion 32 to allow the seat 11 to attain the horizontal position ; the rod 36 is then released to lock the seat. Two seats may be operated by one shaft 25.
