Abstract
320,144. Palmer, T. R. July 13, 1928. Tapping casks and other vessels. - A device for connecting taps &c. to drums &c. comprises a union, socket &c. 2 and lock-nut 6 with pivotal claws &c. 9 arranged around the part 2 which when tightened press on the outside of the neck or spout of the drum. Cork &c. packing 3 is employed in conjunction therewith. The tap &c. 8 is screwed into the part 2. In a modification the part 2 is flanged and the screws 11 directly engage the spout. The packing 3 may be of different sizes to suit different sized spouts. A hollow threaded boss may be provided on the part 2 to accommodate the packing 3. When long tapered packings 3 are employed the pivotal claws 9 may be replaced by strips with bent extremities which engage the spout, the strips being holed at intervals to accommodate clamping screws which secure them to the plate 2.
