Abstract

319,888. Hartogs, J. C. Aug. 20, 1928. Bobbins, spools &c.-A bobbin particularly for use with artificial silk and having a yarn-bearing surface which may be reduced after the package b has been wound thereon comprises a barrel a, Fig. 2, having disposed on its surface a number of rods c removable in a longitudinal direction and arranged in paper, straw or like yielding covers d. On removal of the rods c the covers d collapse, Fig. 3, leaving the package loose. The rods c are formed of wood, glass, ebonite or other acidresisting material while the covers d are fixed in recesses in barrel a or are glued thereto.
