Abstract

319,385. Marks, E. C. R., (Riley Stoker Corporation). June 14, 1928. Magnetic separators. - The material to be treated is fed through the opening 16 of an hopper 13 on to a table 12 which is provided with a flared skirt 20 and rotates round an electromagnet 30 provided with a central core 32 and upper and lower plates 33, 36. The material in the hopper 13 is agitated by revolving arms and is guided from the opening 16 on to the table 12 by an adjustable scraper 18. The skirt 20 is provided with non-magnetic insets 42, 43, Fig. 4, so that the lines of force will pass through the air over the insets to the rings 40, 41, from the parts 45, 40 as shown. The magnetized material is removed from the skirt 20 by a scraper and the other material passes off through a conduit 23.
