Abstract

Washing-machines with axially - reciprocated plungers; washing-machines with plungers and dollies having both rotary and axially-reciprocating motion. - Two plungers or dollies j are operated by a single lever d so that the down stroke of one assists the upstroke of the other. The lever is pivoted to a bracket c which is carried by the removable lid a of the tub b, the dolly shafts h passing through guiding sleeves i in the lid. As shown in Fig. 3, the shafts may be provided with a spiral groove h to impart a rotary motion thereto when the shafts are reciprocated. Instead of the lever d being swung by hand in both directions as in the forms shown, it may be swung by hand in one direction only, or one end of the lever may be linked to a pedal for rocking it in one direction, a spring being provided for effecting the return stroke.
