Abstract

318,882. Carpmael, A., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). June 11, 1928. Diazo dyes are made by combining an arylide of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acids with a diazotized aminoazo compound of the general formula in which R, and R2=aryl residues which may be substituted by monovalent groups, and X = a sulphonic or a carboxylic group. They dye wool blue to bluish black shades and in suitable cases may be after,chromed. In examples the following dyes are described (1) 1-naphthylamine-4- or 7-sulphonic acid (or technical mixture of 1- naphthylamine-6-and 7-sulphonic acids) # 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid # 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid p-anisidide, (2) 1-naphthylamine-3- 6-disulphonic acid .(or 3 : 7-disulphonic acid or a technical mixture of the two acids) # a-naphthylamine (or m-amino-p-cresol-methylether or p-xylidine) # anilide of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid, (3) p-aminosalicylic acid (or o-aminophenol sulphonic acids # 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid # anilide, p-anisidide, m-nitranilide or alphahaphthylamide of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid. The dyestuffs of this example are after-chromable.
