The fore part of the stretcher is provided with an adjustable stay G, described in Specification. 268,743. The toggle mechanism comprises a lever C<2> in the form of a loop pivoted to the heel portion B and carrying at its forward end a finger piece F. The second link C<1> is pivoted between the arms of the loop, and engages a nut carried by a spring E pivoted to the side portions of the fore portion A.
