Trees and stretchers.-A boot or shoe tree has a flexible toe piece and toggle link mechanism adjustable in length connected to the top rearmost edge of the toe piece and forming or carrying a heel piece. The toe piece comprises a member b of wood, compressed fibre, or phenol condensation product, screwed or riveted to a fore part a of sheet metal formed with slots g. One or more hardened and tempered steel strengthening strips may extend across the under side of the fore part. At the top rearmost edge of the fore part, a pair of tags act as bearings for a spindLe on which are pivoted the ends of a pair of links d spaced by a bush. A heel part d' is adjustably pivoted to the links d, which latter carry a press button f.
