Abstract

317,272. Male, R. Nov. 23, 1928. Extrusion machines.-A machine for forming cakes from soft dough comprises a rotary hollow cylinder having peripheral die apertures, associated with an eccentrically disposed pressure roller which is driven in the same direction but at a greater peripheral speed. As shown, a cylinder 1, mounted on supporting rollers 4 and driven through gears 5, 6 from shafts 16, is furnished with nozzles 2. A pressure roller 9 carried by a shaft 10 disposed vertically below the axis of the cylinder extrudes the material through the nozzles on to a receiving belt 17. The roller 9 is driven at a higher peripheral speed than the cylinder through gearing 11, 12, 13, 27. A rotary device 18 driven synchronously with the cylinder through gearing 21 - - 25 is furnished with arms 19 carrying balls 20 to flatten the protuberances acquired during extrusion. End plates 7 close the lower end portions of the cylinder. The dough may be extruded into small metal moulds. attached to the belt.
