Abstract

298,183. Baker, G. R., Patterson, J. C., and Baker Perkins, Ltd. July 5, 1927. Extrusion machines .-A roller extrusion. machine for producing dough sheets or ribbons, comprises a die associated with scraper elements and located between the axial and lower tangential planes of the rollers so as to form a compression chamber above the die. As shown, arcuate die members 3, 4 carrying integral scrapers 3<a>, 4<a> are supported by members 3b, 4b between the plane passing through the axes of the rollers 1, 2 and the plane tangential to their lower surfaces, forming a compression chamber 6. The arms 3b, 4b are attached to shafts 7, 8, which may be adjustable laterally to vary the die opening and are adjustable in eccentric bushes to adjust the contact of the scrapers. Lateral adjustment of the die member 3 is effected through blocks 9 slidable in guides 10 and actuated through gearing 11, 11<a>, 12. The dies are guided, during adjustment, by pins 13, 14 engaging fixed guides 15, 16. The shaft 7 is in two portions connected by a turnbuckle to facilitate withdrawal. Either or both die plates may be recessed &c. to produce ribbons &c. The extruded dough is delivered to a band 18.
