Abstract

317,088. Verein f³r Chemische Industrie Akt.-Ges. Aug. 11, 1928, [Convention date]. Mixers with circulating- devices.-In the saponification of cellulose acetate solutions, the reaction mass is thoroughly mixed by mechanical whirling means; the reaction may then be effected at a raised temperature, even at a temperature near the boiling point of acetic acid. Suitable apparatus comprises a container for the reaction mixture provided with a mixing disc a and connected to a heating circuit comprising a pump c and a heater b<1>; the heater may alternatively be arranged inside the container and may be independent of the disc or, as shown in Fig. 3, may be associated therewith.
