Abstract

316,963. Grist, G. May 7, 1928. Divided application. Anchoring.-A tractor for hauling a load, e.g. a mole drain plough, is provided at one end with a winding drum 11 and at the other end with a guide 17 for the hauling cable 10. An anchor 20 is mounted to swing about an axis 25 that lies near to or in the vertical plane containing the axis of rotation of the drum. The anchor comprises side members 21, 22 and a crossmember 23 of U-section. The ends of the side members may be pointed, or sprags may be attached to them. In a modification the anchor is of T-shape. A power unit 13, which may be an internal combustion engine, steam engine, or electric motor, is arranged to drive either the drum 11 or the road wheels 14 according to which of the clutches 15, 16 is in engagement.
